Introducing Edgewood Chiropractor Dr. Steve Sanderson

In Junior High School my goal was to be a Chiropractor. I didn’t know what I was getting into when I started Palmer College of Chiropractic in the winter of January 1972. Palmer College was located in Davenport, Iowa. It was very cold their in the winter. I realized I didn’t know a sole, except a family in Sterling, Ill. But that was just the beginning of a great career and lasting friendship thru today.

I started receiving Chiropractic Care in grade school. As my mother worked in a Chiropractic office. I thought it was really cool at that age to make those Hylo-tables go up – down. Well, with an interest in the human body and what makes things function. The only way to operate a Hylo-table was to go to Chiropractic College and become a Chiropractor myself. Therefore the motivation, dream and idea’s began at an early age.

If you are going to be a Chiropractor, you might as well go to the Fountain Head of Chiropractic, Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. This is the best of the best, in my opinion. During the last 18 months of College I was accepted into an Internship program at 5 Points Chiropractic Clinic in Davenport and DeWitt, Iowa. This was a great experience totally. I was surprised I also received an X-Ray Scholarship as an X-Ray intern during my senior year.

I enjoy the challenge of working on Spinal Problems. I especially enjoy neck (Cervical) and lower back (Lumbar) spinal regions. From examination to analyzing spinal x-rays to determining how and where to correct the problem. If you are not responding to conservative care a referral is made. I use M.R.I.’s and consult as needed.  My philosophy is to correct my patients spinal Subluxations, make self postural corrections/suggestions, changes in daily activities. Associated along with the correction of the Subluxations come reduced spinal nerve root irritations, increase spinal mobility, increased spinal stability, reduced vertebral wedging.

I am married to a beautiful woman, Caron. We have 3 daughters and one son. We enjoy motorcycle touring with the bike club, “the daves usa”. Enjoy outdoor landscaping, hiking, camping, fishing and vacationing at Flathead Lake, Montana.  Motto is “Got to have fun” and “Get er done”. What is very relaxing and enjoyable, what makes time slow down is touring the country side on motorcycle. Even a short trip over Chinook Pass with my wife, Caron to enjoy the view and eat their Prime Rib dinner at  Gold Creek Restaurant.

I receive Chiropractic Spinal Adjustments at approx. 2 times per week. Adjusting patients is my daily workout. Our family also receives regular Chiropractic Care. One healthy habit is drinking lots of water.

We are excited for you to tell us about your health concern? How can we help you achieve a more functional lifestyle? Give us a call “Get er done”. Look forward to meeting you!  Steve Sanderson, D.C.

Dr. Acosta Asks some important questions of interest to Edgewood residents - Chiropractor Edgewood Dr. Acosta Asks...

Why is a "slipped disc" unlikely?
Separating each spinal vertebra is a disc. Its fibrous outer ring holds in a jelly-like material. Because of the way a disc attaches to the spinal bones above and below it, it can't actually "slip." However, a disc can bulge, tear, herniate, thin and collapse. But it can't slip.
Do chiropractors prescribe medications for the pain?
No. Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to better health. Instead, we rely on natural methods. We can show you how to use ice to control pain. When properly applied, ice can have an analgesic effect without the unwanted and sometimes dangerous effects of pain medications.
